The afterschool program is available at the following 3 off-site locations:

Off-site classrooms Linden Heights Baptist Church, 371 Linden Dr, Staunton.

​

Off-site classrooms at 5th Street Church of the Brethren, next to A.R.Ware Elementary.

​

Off-site classrooms at 7th Day Adventist Church across from McSwain Elementary.

​

Classes start the week of August 18, 2025 and will follow the school calendar. On days where there is no school, or early dismissal, there
will NOT be any WRE program.

​

Once you have registered your child/ren and signed the release permission slip, your child/ren will be released to WRE 'walkers' who will escort them to the off-site classrooms. These classrooms are all a very short walk from the school. There will be at least 2 'walkers' for each location. Walkers will be identified with a WRE white and purple flag they will carry. 

​

The child/ren will be met by their WRE teacher, and together with the 'walkers' will be with your child/ren until the program is finished at 4:30pm. You will be responsible for picking up your child/ren after the program and transporting them home. 

​

We welcome home school students; you will need to bring your child/ren to one of the WRE afterschool locations. You will be responsible for walking them into class and for picking up your child/ren after the program and transporting them home. Please make sure your child is pre-registered before bringing them to class.

Bessie Weller students - at Linden Heights Baptist Church - Students are bussed to this location.

Wednesday: Kindergarten thru 5th Grade

Example of what the afterschool program class may consist of (but not limited to):

​

Child released at 2:45pm to walkers.

Arrival at WRE classroom, settle in and welcome/introductions.

Prayer time.

Snack and water.

Age appropriate bible story

Learning craft or activity.

Sing time (hymn or bible song)

Closing prayer

Dismissal.

The WRE afterschool program will not be teaching denominational beliefs. Our only reference or text book will be the bible.
